The general trend over the past 6-8 weeks has been that every time you pick up the newspaper or watch T.V., all you see is a blast of bad news, either about banks losing money or people losing their jobs. This constant drumbeat is naturally generating a lot of anxiety. One of the questions that are frequently being asked is how to manage this anxiety; how an individual can cope with this sort of stress. Decision making in organizations tends to be somewhat amorphous. Great organizations have a system and culture of decision making that most people are aware of, even though they probably will not be able to articulate it clearly. On the other hand, it is not unusual to find that decision making is most clearly defined in organizations that are truly autocratic in nature. Decision making may seem clear-cut and simple and fast in these organizations, but the decisions made may not be the best ones. And if they are not, this can eventually affect the credibility of the leader while leading to loss of morale among employees.

Every now and then, something happens that reminds me of and reinforces my pride at being a Kenexan. Today is one of those times.
